November 2021 Newsletter- A Season to Share and to Celebrate

November 2021 Newsletter- A Season to Share and to Celebrate

Music has always been a source of joy and comfort for me, and sets the stage for any celebration.  I have been singing with my sister in the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Magic of Christmas for several years now, and I love how it enables me to spread joy and to share in happiness with friends, neighbors and strangers.  Toward the end of every show, former PSO Music Director Robert Moody used to say to the crowd, “However you celebrate, celebrate well.”  This sentiment has always resonated with me, especially this time of year.  Celebrations don’t have to all look the same, they don’t have to accompany a specific holiday, or even be connected to any holiday at all.  When we share with others, we are celebrating.  Celebrating joy together, our commonalities, even just a shared human experience are wonderful moments to relish in life.  The work our members do all year long is certainly cause for celebration, as they make Maine better for us all.

We at MaineShare are very excited about the accomplishments of the last year, and pleased to celebrate with our wonderful community. We invite you to share in the continued impactful work of our member organizations by reading on.

THANK YOU! 30+1 MaineShare Anniversary Celebration

THANK YOU! 30+1 MaineShare Anniversary Celebration

On October 21st, Maineshare members, donors, and friends, past and present, gathered in the beautiful Viles Arboretum barn to belatedly celebrate our 30th anniversary.  We heard stories from those instrumental to our founding including Larry Danziger, Martha Piskuscas, Matt Howe, and Hildie Lipsom.  Wendy Rose & Doug Malcom, who were not able to attend, were fondly remembered as critical to MaineShare’s existence.

Those who have helped us weather these current times, like Ryan Martin, Brenda Peluso and past board president, Tracy Harkins, celebrated how far we’ve come.  We then welcomed Amanda Langley & Phil Walsh who shared excitement around opportunities to come.

We have no doubt that our history and future are worth celebrating.   It was wonderful to see so many of the MaineShare family in person, and we thank you all for your continued support!
