During this time of giving and gratitude, I would be remiss to not thank YOU- our MaineShare community. Our MaineShare community has raised unrestricted funds to make our member organizations more sustainable and adaptable in meeting the needs of their communities. You have increased awareness of the incredible work done by our groups to make Maine more just, vibrant, and equitable. You have allowed groups the opportunity to build relationships, empowering each other and sharing knowledge and resources. But of course, the work is not over! This is a tragic and devastating time. The right words to say don’t exist during some of the darkest of days here in Maine. We all have been impacted in a myriad of ways, and I share my deep sympathy to the loved ones of the victims and solidarity with the communities touched by this terrible tragedy.
There is no manual for how to respond to trauma like this, and healing takes time. As we grieve and heal, let’s continue to take care of ourselves and each other. I encourage you to take time in community, as well as time of solitude and reflection, as it feels right to you.
