Amanda Langley PhotoIt is with great pleasure that we announce MaineShare’s new permanent director has been hired!  Amanda Langley, MPH, will be joining the MaineShare staff during the week of October 18th.  We had an amazingly talented pool of applicants and Amanda’s commitment to social justice, curious mind-set, collaborative nature, and wicked smahts will serve us all well. We thank all of you who applied for the position and participated wholeheartedly in our process.  Maine has some incredibly committed and talented people!

Amanda will be joining us as soon as she concludes her current role as the Community-Based Education Manager for the University of New England, College of Dental Medicine.

Amanda grew up in Falmouth, ME and has a background in public health, academia, and is a life-long social justice warrior.  Amanda is committed to improving conditions for vulnerable populations, actively exploring equity issues, and she is thrilled for this opportunity to lead MaineShare into its next chapter!

While completing her Master’s program, Amanda participated in an interprofessional health service trip to Ghana, providing free medical care to patients for two weeks. She also completed an interprofessional research project on rural healthcare for the elderly. She has volunteered as a bereavement facilitator at The Center for Grieving Children and Maine Needs. She is a member of Delta Omega, a public health honor society, and the Maine Public Health Association, where she is a co-lead of the Member Subsection on Vulnerable Populations.  She is an adjunct faculty member in the College of Dental Medicine as well as the UNE College of Arts and Sciences sociology department.  Her extracurricular interests are skiing, mountain biking, and gardening and flowers.

Join us in welcoming Amanda!
